The PBX requires 2 x Private IP Addresses according to RFC1918. These two addresses should be outside the DHCP Scope of the LAN. The organisation that manages the local network would typically assign these two addresses and relay the information onto the organisation that manages the firewall.
  1. IP Address "A" is used for SIP Signalling
  2. IP Address "B" is used for RTP Media
Additionally sufficient capacity within the DHCP Scope for use by End User Devices should be available. Depending on the size of the installation a considerable quantity of hosts could be connected to the LAN. A voice VLAN might be desirable in this circumstance.
The following rules must be configured on the network firewall.
